There are only two good things about the Hostel: location...

There are only two good things about the Hostel: location and people that work there are kind

What was the highlight of Hostal Casa Venecia

Nothing.

Nothing. We met nice people but that’s not in the hostel’s control.

Double room with A/C was horrible and unsafe for the following reasons: the A/C unit started sparking in the middle of the night right on my girlfriend’s legs (the unit almost caught fire). At the same time our fan broke down with sparks (maybe a fuse problem). The room had windows facing into the kitchen and we got woken up again at 5:30 am (and other rooms face the busy road so they are not quiet either). Also, the WiFi didn’t work in most rooms, and even though advertised, not even always in the common areas (where you get eaten by mosquitos). The worst thing though was the personal (a teenager not caring at all and the manager being always absent due to owning many hostels). We explained our case and asked for a solution, but the staff didn’t believe us even though we showed them the broken fan. They basically told us to f*** off and didn’t offer any solution, but tried to sell us another night for full price. To sum up, the more expensive rooms are not worth it and even unsafe. Other guests in shared dorms complained about loud noise at night, and way too hot rooms.

The room was nice.

There was a fruit breakfast promised but we did not get any fruits even after asking multiple times. The breakfast was eggs with bread and coffee. The WiFi wasn‘t working most of the time.

What was the highlight of Hostal Casa Venecia

Good location, helpful staff and a plunge pool, overall I was happy.

The location was excellent on a street full of other hostels and a club at the end of the road. It has a plunge pool which was refreshing after walking round Cartagena during the day and a chilled out area with a hammock. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good WIFI, nice cold refreshing showers.

As I was traveling on a budget I always went for the cheap rooms. I shared a room with 16 other travelers which was not the best as it was cramped, but I still got to sleep....Thank god for the air con!!

Other guests were fun and interesting

Swiming pool quite dirty. Management turns off the AC at night. Hot and humit because no AC and 16 people room. Minimalistic beds.

I will not return to this place. Nowhere to chill, dirty, rooms were ridiculously hot, no pool.

The location is good

Rooms were litterally like sleeping in a sauna. Nowhere to chill out except smokers section. The place litterally smelt like a used toilet. Dirty, hot, pool was murky (unusable), breakfast wasn't worth waking up for.

The cleaning woman cleans the floor with the water out of the toilet!!!! she did it infront of me. and she also clean the wish mop in the toilet with a flush. Bedbugs in my bed and in other beds! Breakfast they were to lazy to serve it at 9:25 this was 5 minutes before end. unbelivable. Dorm rooms at the party street side... very loud until 5 am in the morning.

Good location and was a good place to meet some people

The wifi wasn't amazing and the staff tend to start cleaning and making breakfast pretty early, which can be a problem if you're a light sleeper.

The location was ideal.

The location was ideal. The room was very spacious.

The matrass was very soft. The swimming pool was dirty, the water was turbid and some days there were cigarettes in the pool. The room was not very clean; there were a lot of spiderwebs. The staff was not very helpful. The breakfast portions were too small.

Great location. Loved luis on reception - service with a smile

Great location and cheap price for private room (with shared bathroom. Room and bathroom big. Fan not aircon so ok but not as cool as we’ve got used to in airconed rooms. 24hr desk and everyone has to buzz in and out of building so very secure.

Kitchen not great. Didn’t really like the breakfast but that could be personal taste
